Keeping in Touch While Your Kids are at Camp

Catalina Island Camps provides parents with a free online photo gallery of pictures taken daily by our staff photographers and campers in the photo journalism activity.

Your Parent Handbook details how to enroll in the services. The site is password protected so you will need the pre-approval code provided in your blue folder.

In addition to the photo gallery, parents may pay an additonal fee to send e-mail to their camper or to have special stationery delivered to campers that they may use to write letters home which are then e-mailed back to parents.

See the detailed information in your Parent Handbook to learn more about, bunk notes and bunk replies. Use the special link in the right column to access the Catalina Island Camps Photo Gallery within

Please allow at least three to five days for mail delivery from the Los Angeles area to the Island and vice versa. All letters need to be sent via U.S. Postal Service.

Care Packages

If you would like to send a care package to your child, we encourage you to order from “The Wrinkled Egg”, a company that specializes in preparing packages for summer camps ( Please limit the number of packages to one per week of your camper’s stay at camp.

If you would like to send your own package, we ask that you do not send any food or drink items. All packages will be opened in the presence of a senior staff member, and all food items will be collected and not returned.

Care packages should be sent only via UPS or Federal Express to the following address:

Your Child’s Name
Catalina Island Camps
100 Howlands Landing
Avalon, CA 90704

**Please Note: The address for regular mail is different than that for care packages. Care packages sent to the PO Box require significant extra handling by our staff. Care packages sent via either UPS or FedEx are delivered directly to camp Monday-Friday and require that the “Howlands Landing” line replace the PO Box on the address (UPS and FedEx won’t deliver to a PO Box).

Telephones/Voice Mail

There are no telephones at camp available for your child to call home, so please do not offer this as an option.

If a camp director needs to speak with you, we will contact you using the phone numbers provided on your child’s form.

If you have questions about transportation, arrival/departure dates and times, directions to the boat terminal, and/or Parents Day, please call our business office at (626) 296-4040. This office is staffed from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. each weekday.

We also have a voice mail system available for parents. When you call (626-625-0233) and leave a message at our Island office, a Leadership Team member will retrieve the message and return your call. This phone is staffed from 8:30 a.m. -8:00 p.m. every day during the summer season. Please use this number if you have questions that you feel would be best answered by a Director or member of the Leadership Team.
