Keeping in Touch While Your Kids are at Camp

Camp Photos

CIC provides parents with a free online photo gallery of pictures taken daily by our staff photographers. Click the Daily Camp Photos link to view the photos.  Look for the password and other details in an email before camp starts. In addition to the photo gallery, parents may send e-mail to their camper and/or print special stationery for campers so that they may use to write letters home which is then e-mailed back to parents. This information is also emailed to parents. Check your emails for more information.

Mail

Please allow at least three to five days for mail delivery from the Los Angeles area to the Island and vice versa. All letters need to be sent via U.S. Postal Service.

Please address mail to:

Your Child’s Name
Catalina Island Camps
P O Box 5083
Avalon, CA 90704

**Do not send care packages to this address. Sending care packages to the PO Box will delay arrival at camp.  Please see below for how to send a care package to camp.

Care Packages

If you would like to send a care package to your child, we encourage you to order from “The Wrinkled Egg”, a company that specializes in preparing packages for summer camps (The Wrinkled Egg). Please limit the number of packages to one per week of your camper’s stay at camp.

If you would like to send your own package, we ask that you do not send any food or drink items. All packages will be opened in the presence of a senior staff member, and all food items will be collected and not returned.

Care packages should be sent only via UPS or Federal Express only. Please use the following address:

Your Child’s Name
Catalina Island Camps
100 Howlands Landing
Avalon, CA 90704

**Please Note: The address for regular mail is different than that for care packages. Care packages sent to the PO Box require significant extra handling by our staff. Care packages sent via either UPS or FedEx are delivered directly to camp Monday-Friday and require that the “Howlands Landing” line replace the PO Box on the address (UPS and FedEx won’t deliver to a PO Box).

**Another Important Note! There is no such thing as “overnight delivery” to Catalina Island, either via the post office, UPS or FedEx. Paying extra for overnight service may get things to camp faster, but it won’t happen overnight! There is no Saturday delivery of mail or packages on Catalina.

E-Mail/Internet

Parents may send email to campers. Campers can hand-write letters that are emailed back. Detailed information on how to utilize this service will be emailed in June. Campers do not have access to the internet while at camp.

Telephone/Voice Mail

There are no telephones at camp available for your child to call home, so please do not offer this as an option.

If a camp director needs to speak with you, we will contact you using the phone numbers provided on your child’s form.

If you have questions about transportation, arrival/departure dates and times, and/or directions to the boat terminal, please email Maria.

We also have a voice mail system available for parents. When you call (626-660-5574) and leave a message at our Island office, a Leadership Team member will retrieve the message and return your call. This phone is staffed from 8:00 a.m. -8:00 p.m. every day during the summer season. Please use this number if you have questions that you feel would be best answered by a Director or member of the Leadership Team.
