Becoming a summer camp counselor is a fun and rewarding experience but comes with challenges. Here are some helpful tips for new camp counselors:

1. Build Strong Relationships

Be friendly but maintain authority—balance fun with responsibility.

Encourage teamwork and inclusion to help campers bond.

Make time to talk individually with every camper in your group every day.

2. Be a Role Model

Lead by example with enthusiasm, respect, and positivity.

Follow camp rules and encourage campers to do the same.

Demonstrate good sportsmanship and problem-solving skills.

3. Stay Energetic & Take Care of Yourself

Get plenty of rest and stay hydrated.

Eat well and take breaks when possible.
