Catalina Island Camps develops life-long skills through fun and unique outdoor experiences in a community that cultivates respect for self, others and the environment. At CIC, our programs are built around our mission and the unique marine and land environments of Howlands Landing.
Summer Camp
We are a one and two-week co-ed sleepaway camp for children and teens 1st through 10th grade.
Our Location
Howlands Landing is located at the west end of Santa Catalina Island, 22 miles west of Los Angeles, California.

These are familiar faces around camp and play a big role in the day-to-day experience for both campers and staff. They work closely with cabin counselors and are often the people your child sees and goes to throughout the day.
From supporting staff to helping campers navigate challenges, they’re an important part of making sure everyone feels comfortable, supported, and able to get the most out of their time at camp.
Alongside your child’s cabin counselor, they help guide conflict resolution and are always around to step in, check in, and keep things running smoothly.

We’re starting with three people who have been at the heart of CIC for years: Tom, Maria, and Nick.
Tom and Maria have been Executive Directors since 1995, and camp has been a central part of their lives ever since. From year-round planning to summers on the island, their impact on CIC spans decades. They’re also proud parents to Nick.
Nick truly grew up at Catalina Island Camps, first arriving at just 4 weeks old. Since then, he’s taken on nearly every role at camp: camper, CILT, CIT, counselor, boat driver, Waterfront Director, and Cabin Crew Director. For summer 2026, he steps into the role of CIC Program Director, working year-round to help shape the camp experience and build the team that makes it all possible.
